Ps. 19:1, 14 The psalms are poems, songs and prayers to God, and about God. Psalm 19 focuses on the general revelation, and the specific revelation, of God.
I. God’s world reveals a creator Ps. 19:1-6
Biblical poetry is based on repeating ideas and truths: declare…line, is sound in Rom. 10:18, words.
Rom. 1:20. The glory of God is his excellence, power, and splendor. Have you ever seen or experienced any part of creation that led you to think of the power or awesomeness of God and the smallness or finiteness of mankind Ps. 8:3, 4?
God has such power that he spoke, and the universe came into being Ps. 33:6-9; Heb. 11:3. God also showed his wisdom in how he designed our world and our bodies to promote life.
How powerful and wise is our God? Let’s confess his greatness when we pray for his will in overwhelming, trying, and seemingly hopeless situations.
The sun is a daily witness; nothing is hidden from its heat.
II. God’s word reveals a redeemer Ps. 19:7-14
We can know about God by creation, but we can know God by revelation. In Walk in Newness of Life, Day 2, I wrote, “We can know God’s character, His holiness, justice, goodness, and His self-sacrificing love for us because it is written in His word.”
LORD is the personal, covenant name of God, the I AM. The God of creation is the Lord of relation and redemption.
Redeem is to free by paying a ransom, to purchase. God redeemed his people from slavery in Egypt by the blood of Passover lambs. God redeems us from slavery to sin and death by the blood of his sinless Son 1 Pet 1:18, 19. Jesus suffered and died on the cross to cleanse us from all sin and restore us back to God. We can live in close fellow- ship with the one who loved us and gave himself for us now, and live with him forever in new bodies and new a creation because Jesus redeemed us Rom. 8:22, 23.
Again, repetition of truths. God’s word is perfect, complete, “blameless” in 19:13. It’s accurate and dependable. God’s word has power to convert us, to return or restore, as in a restored relationship. We need God’s wisdom, so we’re not easily deceived or misled. God’s word can give joy to our heart and light to our understanding. It teaches us how to fear the Lord in worshipful awe and reverence. And its truths instruct us in how to live righteously so that we reap the benefits of its warnings and rewards.

The word for “hidden” in 19:6, is translated “secret” in 19:12, nothing hidden Heb. 4:12, 13.
We must look to the Lord for his grace to help us. It’s the only way that our words and what our hearts murmur to themselves are pleasing to the Lord.
